Róisín Whelan

Counsellor & Psychotherapist

About Mindworthy

Established in 2014 by Róisin Whelan, Mindworthy Counselling & Psychotherapy Clinic offers a safe and confidential space to talk and find support through life's challenges.

When we feel sad, anxious, overwhelmed, or simply out of sorts, it can be hard to know where to turn or where to begin. Therapy can feel daunting, but taking that first step can often be the most important one.

At Mindworthy, you are offered the space to tell your story in a supportive, respectful, and confidential environment, at your own pace.

  • I work with adults experiencing a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties, including:

    • Anxiety, stress, and burnout

    • Low mood, anxiety, and depression

    • Family and relationship difficulties

    • Health-related issues

    • Grief, bereavement, and loss

    Personal Interests & Specialised Training

Alongside my general therapeutic work, I have a particular interest and specialised experience in the following areas:

    • Cancer support

    • Perinatal mental health

About Róisín

I am an eclectic psychotherapist offering a warm, approachable, and supportive space for therapy. I work integratively, drawing on a range of therapeutic approaches to meet you where you are, while also gently supporting you to make meaningful and lasting change.

I believe the relationship in therapy is central. Feeling comfortable, understood, and supported matters — because meaningful change happens best when there is a good fit between therapist and client.

Alongside my one-to-one work, I have extensive experience supporting people impacted by cancer. I previously ran Ireland's first support group for those diagnosed with head, neck, and mouth cancers and am currently a committee member of Mouth Cancer Awareness Day (MCAD). I also deliver talks and workshops on self-care, compassion fatigue, burnout, and patients' experiences of cancer.

I founded Mindworthy to support people in reconnecting with their sense of agency and moving toward a more fulfilling life, even after difficult or life-changing experiences.

Róisín Whelan MIACP (BA Hons) is a fully qualified psychotherapist and fully accredited member of The Irish Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (IACP). She is bound by the IACP Code of Ethics and Practice to monitor her work through regular Supervision to ensure competency, efficacy, ethical standards and ongoing learning & education. She holds a BA in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy, a QQI Level 9 Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, a Professional Certificate in Perinatal Mental Health and a Professional Certificate in Psycho-Oncology.

Cancer Support

A cancer diagnosis and its treatment can affect every part of life — emotionally, psychologically, and relationally. Even when treatment has finished, many people find that the emotional impact can linger.

You may appear to be coping on the outside, while internally feeling anxious, low, disconnected, or overwhelmed. There can be pressure to "get back to normal," even when life no longer feels the same.

I offer counselling and psychotherapy for adults affected by cancer, including those currently in treatment, post-treatment, or adjusting to life after cancer, as well as partners and family members who may also be struggling.

You might be experiencing:

  • Anxiety, fear, or panic (including fear of recurrence or scan-related anxiety)

  • Low mood, emotional numbness, or exhaustion

  • Trauma responses linked to diagnosis, treatment, or hospital experiences

  • Difficulty sleeping or switching off

  • Changes in identity, confidence, or sense of self

  • Relationship strain, or feeling isolated or misunderstood

  • Waves of grief, anger, or sadness

  • Pressure to feel grateful or positive when you don't

If any of this resonates, it makes sense — and you don't have to manage it alone.
